Birds and Traces

Collaboration with Maja S. K. Ratkje on Faster Than Sound residency, Suffolk. Inspired by the themes of bird migration, the season of spring and climate change. Birds And Traces involved school children local to the Snape area reinterpreting Norwegian songs about birds and spring along with making origami birds and mapping out migration routes of birds relevant to the area, and birds that travel a migration route that passes through the UK and Norway.

The performance featured Norwegian accordionist Frode Haltli. Birds and Traces was part of Parallel Lives, a project that also featured new works by New York based artist Marina Rosenfeld and was curated by The Wire

Alongside the performance, the artists created two installations which included research materials produced during their residency and Dancing Cranes, which has subsequently been shown at Arnolfini, Bristol; the Royal Opera House, London and Almost Cinema Festival, Vooruit Arts Centre, Ghent.
