Mostra SESC de Artes
Piano Migrations was shown at the festival Mostra SESC de Artes, Sao Paulo, Brazil in November/December 2010. The installation was exhibited at SESC Santana for one month, with an opening night concert by myself and Matthew Olden. A great location, because it is a public leisure centre and attracted many people from the local community who passed through.
The photo at the top is Ceasar, our amazing Brazilian multi-skilled helper taking apart a piano so we could re-make the installation in Brazil !
Here is a video of the installation in action.
The piano migrations toy piano performed at SESC Pompeia as part of the concert Sonatas, Pianos, Machines and Interludes, curated by pianist Sarah Nicolls. The concert featured Sarah performing on her ‘inside-out’ piano; specially created ‘piano spiders’ by Felix’s Machines and Pierre Malbos on his Piano Bachet-Malbos… with some John Cage prepared piano works thrown in for good measure.
Here’s a video (also including Andrea Neumann) of a performance at King’s place, London.
