One Thousand Birds at The College Project
I have a workshop space at The College Project, independent project by ArtSpaceLifeSpace, an artist led initiative that recycles vacant, under-used and problem properties into thriving active creative resources. It is a vibrant, creative community learning space for people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. In June The College was part of the Bristol Bienniel. For this exhibition, I organised my One Thousand Birds project, in which I invite members of the local community to make Origami birds, that all form part of an audio visual installation. Read more about the project here.
I ran a day of bird making, and then set up the installation in an empty room for 2 weeks. The opening night at the College on June 1st was full of events – more exhitbions opened including a parge group show, and live bands played, starting a week of workshops, and community events, finishing with The Big Lunch in the College Canteen space.
Here are some pictures from the workshop and the installation.
