Behind Beyond is a collaboration with dancer and sound artist Lotta Melin, sound artist and instrument maker  Tom Bugs and costume designer Pam Tait. Inspired by the eccentric 19th Century actress Sarah Bernhardt, who was famously obsessed with death and had a habit of sleeping in a coffin.

Tom and Pam collaborated to create an extraordinary sonic dress for Lotta using period costume and analogue electronics. Lotta was able to choreograph the piece to also sculpt the sound using her movement in the dress. I created video projections onto layers of gauze that were moved during the performance to create different layers of projection surface.
